Iraq – Using strings and nails, Huwaidy creates his art on wooden boards

Using strings and nail, the young Saeed Huwaidy, from Karbala Governorate in central Iraq, creates his art, using the Ottoman art of philography that is almost fading and forgotten. Huwaidy begins by installing the wide-headed nails on wooden boards at equal distances, and then works on passing colored strings and wires between the nails, to form a sculptural art, and create faces and images through these strings that he forms on the wooden boards. The artist Saeed invests this art, which is the first of its kind in Iraq, to earn his living, especially that his art attracted Arab and international people.
