Tunisia: Tunisian women are Victims of Violence in the Quarantine
Tunis- Tunisia 06.10.2020
Violence against women has sharply risen lately in Tunis. A women’s rights’ judge narrates real stories of women that were subjected to unbearable violence and abuse during the quarantine, in an attempt to shed light on this regard and to alter the grim reality. She underscored the necessity of the women’s role in changing the patriarchal society’ stance towards them, claiming that respecting their integrity is non-negotiable. The Centre of Legal and Judicial Studies’ Director-General, Mounir Ferchichi highlighted the economic and social reasons that fuel such violence. The centre is highly concerned with conducting studies on the relation between the economic and social realities and the rise in violence against women.
