Yemen – Prisoner Swap between the Yemeni legitimate Government and the Southern Transitional Council

The province of Abyan witnessed prisoner swap between the Yemeni legitimate government and the Southern Transitional Council (STC), in the presence of a Mediation Committee. The spokesman for the Abyan axis, Captain Muhammad al-Naqib clarified that 170 prisoners of the STC’s troops were set free in exchange for the release of 34 of government soldiers. Among the prisoners was Brigadier General Saif al-Qafish, the commander of the 115th Infantry Brigade, affiliated to the legitimate government and Anis al-Subaihi, known to be South Resistance commander in Shabwa. The mediation committee included tribal figures in Abyan, the top of which was Sheikh Faisal Al-Marqashi, in coordination with representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross
