Iraq – Beirut bombings, a prior warning to government not to store weapons in residential areas
Baghdad – Iraq 09/08/2020
Experts clarified that the Iraqi government should rethink the issue of storing high-risk containers accumulated and seized inside border crossings and develop solutions for their evacuation in remote places or storing them in a scientific and military manner to protect citizens and civilians, especially since the Iraqi government has experiences in this field by storing weapons in residential areas that led to the loss of lives and wounding dozens of citizens, adding that what happened in Beirut should be a lesson for the Iraqi government in this aspect and that storing weapons and containers, which contain “dual-use chemicals and ammonia nitrates” in residential areas will definitely lead to a social and humanitarian disaster.
