Tunisia- Poverty spread affects Tunisia’s image internally and externally
Tunis – Tunisia 29/02/2020
Tunisia was ranked as one of the poorest countries in the MENA region, according to a recent World Bank report, the classification put half a million Tunisian citizens below the poverty line, with total spending of less than a dollar and a half US per day per person, observers believe that this classification has negative effects on the image of Tunisia externally through the decrease in the proportion of foreign investments in the country and the decrease in the value of the Tunisian dinar compared to foreign currencies, this may lead to a decline in Tunisia’s credibility with donor and lender countries, indicating that successive government policies that have adopted austerity policy to pay off foreign loans have led to an increase in poverty and unemployment rates.
