Syria- Bait Alqaseed is a literary space in Raqqa after years of darkness
Raqqa province- Syria 21/01/2020
In the Nofara Cafe, located in the city center of Raqqa in northern Syria, a group of intellectuals, writers, poets, and amateurs gather every Monday evening in a forum that its founders called “Bait Alqaseed “, on a private initiative, its idea came from the hands of a group of writers in Raqqa nearly two months ago. All forms of literary arts are displayed in this weekly gathering with the aim of reviving culture and literature after “years of darkness” that the city’s residents suffered during the era of ISIS’s control over it because of the criminalization of literature and poetry with a penalty of execution up to death on Al-Naeem roundabout, which is a few meters away from the cafe.
