Syria – NES press conference on its elimination from the Constitutional Committee

The Executive Council for the Self-Administration in Northern and Eastern Syria (NES) held a press conference at its headquarters in the town of Ain Issa, north of Raqqa, to read a statement regarding the non-participation of NES in the UN-approved constitutional committee.

The statement, read by the joint chairman of the Executive Council of NES, Abdul Hamid Al-Mahbash, said that “This committee does not take into account in terms of composition the specificity and diversity of the Syrian people, noting the exclusion of self-administration means a lack of justice and equality and is contrary to UN Resolution 2254”, the statement also added that “In the shadow of the absence of the role and will of our people, who have prepared the ground for a democratic solution and eliminated the dangerous factors that threaten the unity of Syria, we believe that the results will not be in the service of Syrians and that this will deepen the crisis”.
