Somalia – Plane is the only mean to travel between Mogadishu and Baidoa as a result of the destruction of the linking road by Al-Shabaab movement

Cars are not the preferred means of movement between the Somali capital Mogadishu and the city of  Baidoa in the Bay region in southwestern Somalia, despite the fact that the distance between them is about 250 km. The majority of citizens and officials prefer to travel by plane because of the blocking the road that link between them during the war, between Al-Shabaab movement and the Government forces. The people of the region appealed to all government agencies to reopen the road to facilitate movement between the cities of the region and the capital.
