Somalia – Calls to stop inter-tribal rivalry in Central Shabelle for fear of al-Shabaab exploiting the situation

The ongoing rivalry between the Habr Jeder and Bimal tribes, in the central province of Shabelle in south-eastern Somalia, has intensified the vulnerability of government forces in controlling all areas of the country, amid calls to leave these differences aside and to close the ranks of the internal group to prevent al-Shabaab from exploiting the situation to expand its influence in those areas.
