Al-Shabaab still controls most areas of the Jubaland region of southern Somalia, which has led to the Jubaland areas turning into a sub-desert after they were a tourist attracting area where thousands of visitors used to come to, because of the many conflicts there has been a change in the demographic of society after the collapse of the central government in Somalia, according to the analyst and activist , Shafi’i Ibrahim, who indicated that the government forces had not liberated Jubaland areas from al-Shabaab’s grip except for Kismayo, Kubal and some areas, noting that the government had also been unable to find a foothold in the lower Juba regions.
