Syria – Opening of a cultural center as an alternative to 20 centers that were destroyed by ISIS in Raqqa

The Civil council of Raqqa in the city of Raqqa, in northern Syria, opened a new cultural center with all of its sections, as a replacement for more than 20 other centers that the ISIS group had destroyed or closed down when the city was under their control, the city was their main fortress in Syria before they were expelled in the month of October 2017, the centre was one of the largest cultural centers in Raqqa, with a large library of more than sixty thousand books, but the members of ISIS left only ruins after  they burned and destroyed all of its contents, for the first time since 2014, artists are able display their drawings or sculptures without fear of being arrested and stalked, also art lovers can roam between different exhibitions in the cultural center and attend plays, the center contains several sections including the Department of Heritage, Theatre and fine Arts, in addition to the new Children’s section.
