Algeria – Hundreds of thousands protest demanding the political system changed

Hundreds of thousands of citizens rallied for the sixth Friday straight in capital Algiers in the largest demonstration since the protests started to demand the political system be changed and president Abdelaziz Bouteflika be sacked. This occurred days after the army asked him to step down. The protesters asked the army to stay away from politics and civil life. In addition to that, they demanded for young leaders to manage the state that intends to rely on oil in order to raise the living standards. A number of protesters expressed discontent regarding the government ignoring their demonstrations, saying that the current government is not complying with the articles of the constitution relating to citizens rights to get involved in politics.
