Libya – UN envoy to Libya holds a press conference in Tripoli

Ghassan Salama, the UN envoy to Libya, held a press conference at the headquarters of the UN Support Mission in the capital Tripoli, which was attended by several journalists and media personnel. The conference is meant to address the terms of the national forum to be held in Libya’s Ghadames between 14 – 16 of April, 2019. Salamah stated that the forum will include a detailed strategy to resolve all of Libya’s political divisions in a way that enhances the relations between them, therefore getting Libya to a safer place. He added that during this forum, a date will be set for the presidential and parliamentary elections. He also stressed that the forum will be the only outlet for the Libyans and all the political factions, including the Parliament and the state’s Supreme and Presidential Councils which all aim to find political reforms that put an end to the country’s political division while avoiding any foreign interventions.
