UAE – Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi welcomes Pope Francis at Presidential Palace

Pope Francis, leader of the Roman Catholic Church, landed in Abu Dhabi to begin a historic three-day visit and was received at the Presidential Palace by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai. An official reception ceremony was began upon the Pope’s arrival, where his convoy was accompanied by a number of horsemen in the palace square. The artillery also fired 21 rounds of bullets to salute the pope, followed by playing the Pontifical Anthem of the Vatican and the National Anthem of the United Arab Emirates, while planes flew over the presidential palace in celebration of the pope’s visit.
