Jordan – Houthi Chairman of Prisoners’ Affairs Committee accuses Hadi’s government of obstructing the prisoner exchange
Amman-Jordan 04/02/2019
The Houthi Chairman of the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee, Abdul Qadir Murtadha, accused Hadi’s government of obstructing the prisoner swap deal by failing to reveal the names of the Houthi prisoners in Yemeni prisons and other prisons. This came during an exclusive interview conducted by Arab 24 before talks between representatives of the Yemeni government and the Houthis. It is noteworthy that the Houthis revealed their prisoners and submitted a list of their names to the UN, and called for the UN to investigate undisclosed names by the other party. Murtada also said that the UN-supervised talks, which are scheduled to be held tomorrow in Amman, Jordan between representatives of the Houthis and the Yemeni government, will address the prisoners’ case and will pick up where they left off the last round of talks, adding that the prisoner swap deal might fail if the other side does not reveal the fate of the Houthi prisoners in the Yemeni prisons.
