Iraq – Demands for reconstructing the demolished buildings of the University of Mosul
Mosul-Nineveh-Iraq 11/01/2019
Students and professors of the University of Mosul appealed to the Iraqi government authorities to renovate and rehabilitate the university’s buildings, which were set to fire and sabotaged by ISIS militants during their 3-year control over Mosul. Although the university resumed the educational process after the city was liberated and life was brought back to the university’s classrooms with self-efforts and limited resources, however, many of the university buildings are still entirely wrecked. The Director of Relations and Media at the University of Mosul, Abdul Karim Al-Atloushi, stressed the university’s urgent need for reconstruction and rehabilitation, followed with equipping the faculties with educational devices, modern scientific laboratories and libraries, along with other required services.
