Iraq – Thousands of Shiites make pilgrimage to Imam Hussein’s shrine in Karbala

Thousands of Shiite Muslims are celebrating the “Arba’een” by making the pilgrimage to the holy shrine of Imam Hussein in Iraq’s Karbala. According to the Islamic calendar, this religious occasion occurs on the 20^th of Safar every year. The concerned authorities have begun to simplify the procedures for visitors from abroad, in addition to securing the roads and providing food, drink and logistics during the visit.
