Iraq – Calls for forming a women’s bloc within the Iraqi parliament

A number of civil society activists called for forming a women’s parliamentary bloc within the Iraqi parliament, especially since the current parliament includes 83 women out of 329 MP. The activists said that forming such a bloc would be reflected positively on the legislative and legal aspects of women’s rights at various levels, and would also be a real support for the empowerment of women in the Iraqi society.
