Military engineering plays an important role in supporting the advance of the joint Iraqi forces in the Old City, the last stronghold of ISIS on the right side of Mosul, as it works to fortify the positions of the Iraqi forces and to open the barriers and to clear them of improvised explosive devices which ISIS use to impede the advance of the Iraqi forces
