Lebanese Parliament on Thursday failed to elect a President of The Republic after no candidate could obtain two-thirds of votes of MPs. Parliament is unable to hold a second session due to losing constitutional quorum.

Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berri, while announcing the voting results, noted that presidential candidate, Michel Moawad, obtained 36 out of 104 of MPs who participated in the session, while 63 MPs voted with blank ballots. Berri added that he will call for a second session when there is consensus among MPs on a candidate for President of the Republic.
