Storyline:

Top boxer Nasr Ali Awad is taking advantage of the four month truce between Yemen’s rival factions to train youth in one of the country’s favorite sports.

Awad, who won several international and local boxing championships runs his workshops amid the rubble of war in the southern port city of Aden where some semblance of normalcy has emerged over the summer.

Awad told A24 that he hopes to inspire teens to develop their skills and qualify for international competitions.

Shotlist:

– Soundbite (Nasr Ali Awad – Boxer and trainer):

“I decided to train the children who lived in a neighborhood close to me. The war destroyed their neighborhood and its sports clubs; which deprived the children of any opportunity to train. Cultural sports clubs in Aden are not what they used to be, sports no longer hold the importance they once did in light of the current situation in Aden.”

– Soundbite (Yosran Adham – Trainee):

“I am happy to be training with boxer Nasr. I didn’t know anything about boxing but since he started training me, I have been showing continuous progress.”
