“On the first anniversary of the Israeli war on Gaza that took place in May 2021, which targeted medical staff and civilians, The Ministry of Health organized an exhibition for pictures records of the work of medical staff. This exhibition shows everything related to the last war, including the statistics of causalities, the work of medical staff in emergency departments, and others, in addition to the damages in the health sector, as around 200 private and public health institutions were targeted. During the 11-day war, the Israeli forces cut off the roads used by ambulances. Through this exhibition, we stress the necessity of protecting all medical staff, lifting the siege on Gaza, and supporting emergency medical needs for the continuation of the work of medical staff “.
- Soundbite (Iyad Issa Abu Zaher – Director of Higher Committee of First Aid and Emergency):
“Today we mark the first anniversary of the last war on Gaza during which medical staff exerted all the efforts. They were fully prepared and showed skilled performance. They represent the Higher Committee for Aid and Emergency, the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the Palestinian Red Crescent, and the Civil Defense. The medical staff worked hard in transporting the wounded to hospitals and treating people. Ambulances and ambulance officers were targeted in previous wars. They faced challenges during the pandemic and many of them got infected with the virus.”
