Storyline:

Many in Sanaa visit Al-Miqmasha during the day in Ramadan to take a stroll and escape the hustle and bustle of the city as well as buy fresh vegetables from the farmlands. Al-Miqmahsa is an open area consisting of farmlands located in Al Sabeen district in the center of Sanaa. The farmlands cultivate vegetables including radish, mint, arugula and fragrant flowers.
Visiting the farmlands hours before Iftar (breaking fast) is a decades old Ramadan tradition loved by many. Purposes of visit vary, some seek the rural atmosphere while others seek to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Some consider it an outlet to escape the psychological effects of war in Yemen. Some also visit to buy vegetables to prepare for Iftar (breaking fast).

“The atmosphere gives you a sense of calm and serenity. The air is full of oxygen because of all the vegetables. Sometimes it rains in certain areas in Sanaa. The season makes it such a beautiful place to enjoy your time.”
