Tunisia – Cases of assaults and different forms of violence against women increase
Tunisia is witnessing the 16 UN days of fighting violence against women, where official figures demonstrated a considerable increase in the number of assaults on women in the country. The workers in this sector highlighted the shift in sorts of violence getting more severe. Meanwhile, the Minister of Women stated that the phenomenon of marital violence accounted for 78% of the total recorded cases against women and that the ministry has received over 15,000 calls reporting violence against women, indicating that the recorded violence figures have grown by more than 7 times.
