Iraq – Awareness campaign to fight violence against women launches in Erbil

The United Nations office and civil society organizations in Erbil, Kurdistan, conducted a campaign to fight violence against women, today, Monday, to raise awareness and educate the community about the importance of stopping violence against women. Firas Al-Khatib, the official spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), stated that the campaign is a social project to communicate with the public and highlight the importance of fighting violence, emphasizing the need to respect women’s status and protect their rights in the society. Al-Khatib addressed the rise in violence and complaints, especially amid the pandemic and its negative economic implications.
