Iraq – Preparations for “I am Iraqi, I read” initiative in Baghdad
A group of young volunteers and academics are preparing to launch the eighth season of the “I am Iraqi, I read” initiative after they received thousands of books from Dar Al-Mutanabi, the House of Cultural Affairs, and the Basra Festival for free to distribute them to the participants in the initiative. The initiative, which will be launched on the 27th of this month in Abu Nawas Gardens in Baghdad, intends to re-publish the culture of paper book reading among all age groups, especially young people, and to discourage them from the Internet and social media. The volunteers sort and classify political, scientific, cultural, literary and school books, stamp them and then pack them in boxes for distribution.
