116

People of Gaza Strip are known for eating hot peppers more than the rest of the Palestinian cities, especially the ones grown in Gaza, as the whole family like it. Gazans buy pepper and store it in containers for use throughout the year. Farmers harvest the pepper and send it to the market, then the sellers wash it and put it in a special machine to grind it and put it in jars. One of the sellers, Nidal Al-Helou, says that there is a great demand on buy pepper this season, as some expatriate families outside the Gaza Strip buy bottles of pepper and send them to their children and families since it is not available in the countries in which they live, and for the first time this year this product of red pepper is exported to the West Bank markets, which led to an increase in its prices.
