Iraq – Iraqi Public Foretell the Shape of Upcoming Parliament

71

Following the announcement of the election’s final results by the Independent High Electoral Commission at a late time of yesterday evening, Saturday, the views of the Iraqi public differed about the modality and performance of the upcoming parliament and government. Some believed that consensus and quotas would be the dominant features of the winning political force, even with new faces that may represent them in the parliament. Civil activists described that the parliament members will not differ from their predecessors in terms of sharing and allocating senior positions, while others were optimistic since they believe in some candidates who used to serve the country and local citizens.
