Iraq – Teachers and Lecturers Continue Protests in Kurdistan
For the past five days, Hundreds of teachers and Lecturers continue to protest in front of the Kurdistan Parliament Office in Sulaymaniah, demanding to be appointed on government personnel Protesters cut off the main street leading to Parliament, causing traffic jams, carrying banners mocking the government’s statements that it did not implement its promises of employment. Protesting teachers affirm that they will continue their protest until they are appointed and that they continue to suspend their teaching rule until the government authorities respond to their demands. It is noteworthy that the number of lecturers and teachers reaches 23 thousand, and they receive symbolic salaries (increments) from the government.
