Yemen: More than 2 million Palm Trees Died As a Result of the Ceaseless War
Amid drought and ceaseless war, more than 2 million palm trees died in Al Hudaydah Governorate. Dates production, thus, has dwindled 80% according to the Tihama Development Authority affiliated with the ministry of agriculture. This can also be attributed to military clashes that took place in palm fields that made it impossible for farmers to reach their lands. Therefore, citizens warned that those trees would go extinct if clashes continue, not to mention the drought’s role in reducing planted areas.
