Iraq – The Kurdish Horman on the World Heritage List

UNESCO has classified the Horman area in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, to the World Heritage list, due to its distinctiveness in land, language, and life, as it bears witness to the ancient culture that extends for three thousand years. Horman holds historical and cultural importance, as it has preserved its folklore and cultural heritage for thousands of years, it is characterized by its scenic nature, historic stone houses, ancient handicrafts, distinctive language, and the persistence of traditions passed down through generations.
