Mongolia – Gasoline and consumer goods prices to rise

65

The price index of consumer goods and gasoline increased, especially after the Mongolian presidential elections that took place last month, due to the Corona pandemic, which led to higher taxes and customs and the cost of cross-border transportation. The pandemic and the economic crisis caused by political instability also contributed to the depreciation of the national currency against the dollar exchange rate, as the fluctuation in the exchange rate affected the high prices of local and imported commodities for the consumer. Citizens demanded the government to take measures to curb the rise in prices of fuel and consumer goods.
