Tunisia- Dar Ali is the Oldest Charitable Institution that Dates Back to the Hafsid Era
Dar Ali is among the most ancient houses in Medina of Tunis. The naming originated from the word “Al Ali” which means upper floor. Before the place was transformed into a restaurant, it used to be a dorm for Zaytuna Mosque’s students. It was then transformed into an organization for accommodating those in need. Dar Ali today is a well-known restaurant and a café that reflect the Tunisian architectural element and the Tunisian identity, not to mention that owners of the place were keen to preserve the Tunisian rich traditional cuisine
