21

The Autonomous Administration withdrew the 119 Resolution, after most of the northern and eastern cities, which fall under its authority, witnessed massive protests, against the resolution which was issued by the Administration’s fuel authority raising fuel prices by about 300%. The protestors raised slogans like; “ a protest until the resolution is dropped”, “our pockets are empty and our oil is wasted”, and they demand the dismissal of the corrupt people accusing them of attempting to fail the Autonomous Administration project. The northern Syrian areas depend on oil derivatives in the major sectors and for household needs such as diesel, gas, gasoline, and kerosene, the region is famous for its abundance of oil and gas fields yet the region is experiencing a fuel crisis and its price hikes for nearly 4 months.
