Syria – A displaced turns a cave in northern Syria into a cuneiform-era museum
Abdulmoti Saeed, a Syrian interior designer, has turned an old cave in Aqrabat town, northern Idlib, near the Turkish border, into a temporary heritage museum, filled with artifacts he brought from his home. No visitor to the cave can leave without sensing the history in every corner of the cave, through observing the museum’s distinctive geometric inscriptions and decorations. The museum contains around 500 archaeological and copper pieces transported from the countryside of Aleppo, some of which date back to more than 100 years, and others to more than 500 years, while the museum depicts the evolution of ancient geological ages and the continuity of civilizations that emerged on Syria.
