Syria- Security tension between the Asayiş and the National Defense of the Syrian government
The city of Qamishli has witnessed security tensions between the internal security forces, “Asayiş,” which are allied with the Autonomous Administration, and the National Defense Forces, which support the Syrian regular forces and have their headquarters in the Al-Tayy neighborhood, southern Qamishli. The tension arose when members of the National Defense Forces attacked a leader of the checkpoints security in the “Asayiş” forces, resulting in his death while the official toll of the causalities of the clashes reached 5 dead and 6 injured from the National Defense Forces, while the neighborhood witnessed a displacement of residents in the early morning towards neighboring areas. The “Asayiş” are still deployed on the roofs of houses, backed by anti-terror fighters and rapid intervention although neither the Syrian army nor Russian forces have intervened in the fighting.
