Cambodia – MSF to proceed its role in treating hepatitis C
MSF proceeds its humanitarian role in treating patients with hepatitis C in Cambodia as it has treated more than 18,000 patients across Cambodia since 2016, officials in the organization stated that treating patients used to be tough in the past, and it used to be treated by doctors only, however, after coming up with the medicine, it just takes about 12 weeks of treatment and the organization covers the costs. They added that the most difficult part now is providing a medical center and testing equipment to confirm chronic infection that the organization does not have so far due to its high cost, calling on the Cambodian Ministry of Health to assist in funding a national response program along with an awareness-raising campaign to conduct free hepatitis C tests for citizens.
