Iraq- The Pope leads a historic mass in Erbil, with the attendance of 10,000 Christians
In his last major stops during his historic visit to Iraq which started on Friday and ends on Monday Pope of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has to lead a mass attended by more than 10 thousand people at the “Francois Hariri” stadium, at the capital of the Kurdistan region, Erbil. The mass was attended by the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, and President The regional government, Masrour Barzani, and the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jeanine Hens Plasschaert, and clerics. The Pope entered the stadium in a car, greeting the people before the mass starts, whereas the streets of Erbil were filled with tens of thousands of citizens to receive the convoy of Pope Francis, who had arrived by road from Nineveh Governorate and had moved in the city with difficulties among the crowds who raised flags of Iraq, the Vatican and the Kurdistan region chanting expressing their happiness and joy with the visit of the Pope.
