Iraq – The Pope arrives in Erbil on his last day in Iraq
The Pope of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has met the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, and the leader of Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, in the guesthouse at Erbil International Airport, following his arrival in the region on the third day of his visit to Iraq. A huge official and popular reception was held to welcome the Supreme Pontiff at Erbil International Airport where the region’s president, Masrour Barzani, leader of the regional government, clerics from different sects, and senior officials were the first to receive him. The pontiff is due to attend a mass during the day at the François Hariri Stadium in Erbil.
