Iraq – Economists: a total absence of strategies to develop and reform the private sector

Economists discuses that the economic committees formed by the Iraqi government are figuring out the issues of the private sector without its participation, which contributed to deepening the gap between investors and the local market in the country. They see that government support for the private sector is theoretical and unplanned support, with untenable slogans. The private sector has been encountering a recession since last year, especially following the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, which took the Iraqi economy into such a state, and influenced most of the private sector’s commercial, agriculture, and trade as well as the service industry.
