Iraq: “Sharif “An Old Man who Insists on Preserving his Passion in Producing Straw Brooms
Amid high technological advancement, some crafts still enjoy their popularity. Despite that manufactured products are flooding the market, Talib Sharif, born in Sulaymaniyah, insists on preserving his passion in producing straw brooms after retiring from the ministry of agriculture. He illustrated that he rented a small shop to sell straw brooms, adding that he believes he is the only one left who still works in such craft. Moreover, the straw used in those brooms are imported from Iran, as farmers here have abandoned working in fields, seeking more high-earning jobs
