Iraq- Reimposition of further travel and gathering restrictions due to the new covid strain
Baghdad – Iraq 28.12.2020
The Iraqi deputy and member of Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee, Jawad Al-Mousawi, stated that the government imposed new restrictions on traveling and public gatherings, and borders shut off, as steps to counter the new strain of covid. As schools resumed for a day per week, the Director-General of the Public Health Department at the Ministry of Health and Environment, Riyadh Al-Halfi, disclosed that the ministry is tracking the conditions in each class. Since children are more vulnerable to the new strain than the previous one, Al-Halfi expressed that teams from the ministry have relocated to schools that have seen more than one case, concerning the outbreak of the virus among students and teachers.
