Tens of thousands of Shia Muslim leader Muqtada al-Sadr’s proponents took the streets in central Bagdad and in other governorates to support Sadr’s plan to participate in the early Parliamentary Elections due in June next year. They also attended a mass Friday prayer. Sader called upon the worshippers to rally and demand combating rampant corruption. He also said in a tweet that he expects a landslide victory in the elections and indicated his intention of being the first prime minister that belongs to the Sadrist movement.  It is worth mentioning that they secured 54 seats in the 2018 parliament race which constituted the largest bloc in the parliament.
