Tens of thousands of Shia Muslim leader Muqtada al-Sadr’s proponents took the streets in central Bagdad and in other governorates to support Sadr’s plan to participate in the early Parliamentary Elections due in June next year. They also attended a mass Friday prayer. Sader called upon the worshippers to rally and demand combating rampant corruption. He also said in a tweet that he expects a landslide victory in the elections and indicated his intention of being the first prime minister that belongs to the Sadrist movement.
