Iraq- Shots of Liberating Qanus Island from ISIS Sleep Cells
Mosul- Nineveh Governorate-Iraq 22.10.2020
Iraqi security forces embarked on a military operation to liberate Qanus Island, South Mosul from ISIS sleep cells’ grip. A24 agency’s journalists accompanied the forces in Qanus Island, which is a hotbed for ISIS, given the rugged terrain that made the Island difficult to reach. The commander of the 54-Brigade of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Ammar Al-Waeli clarified that engineers established a pontoon bridge leading to the Island, allowing the forces into accessing the Island, and then capturing the east bank. ISIS resistance was not witnessed at all, given the severity of the siege that the Popular Mobilization Forces have imposed on ISIS terrorist groups.
