Syria: The Syrian Democratic Forces Release Prisoners Convicted on Terrorism Charges

The Syrian Democratic Forces issued a general amnesty, releasing 631 detainees, following forums and meetings between the Syrian Democratic Council and tribal sheikhs in Raqqa and Deir ez-Zur. This came after tribal heads offered some guarantees for their release. Under the General Council’s resolution in the Autonomous Administration, the first batch of 631 prisoners was released after the press conference. Prisoners were convicted with terrorism charges, and have served at least half of their sentence.
