The city of Siem Reap, northwestern Cambodia, which is a central tourist destination in Southeast Asia, suffers from the accumulation of plastic waste that stacks a number of the city’s neighborhoods, especially the tourists despite the lockdown due to the Corona pandemic. In an initiative of workers in hotels and tourist facilities to reduce plastic waste, many of them began to clean tourist places such as gardens, lakes, and rivers from plastic containers, cups, and bags, and some of the owners of tourist facilities encouraged citizens and visitors to replace all plastic materials with paper and rattan to maintain the cleanliness of the city and protect the nature in the country.
