Iraq- The Government To Restrict Uncontrolled Arms
Baghdad- Iraq 30/09/2020
Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi has reiterated the necessity of tackling the uncontrolled arms; however, the government is crippled by many hurdles in this regard. Analysts indicated that the mechanism used to get hold of the uncontrolled arms is futile. This was manifested by the killing of security agents in Kirkuk Governorate and Dhi Qar Governorate, not to mention attacks on Kanaos. Iraq is currently living in a state of war between the government and non-state actors. The government has failed in restricting arms’ possession and in holding murderers of activists and protestors accountable. Armed groups and militias affiliated to political parties are behind this anarchy.
