The general secretary of Iraqi Al-Amal Association, Hanaa Edwar clarified that the flare-up in the assassinations and the kidnapping of activists and protestors nearly coincides with the anniversary of the 2019–20 Iraqi protests. She added that armed factions affiliated to political parties are in charge of these operations aiming at intimidating them to deter them from holding demonstrations.
