Iraq- US Measures to Eliminate Iranian Leverage in Iraq

Iraqi decision-makers are agonizing over balancing their relations between Iraq and the US. On one hand, Iran operates well-armed militias in Iraq, and there is a magnificent trade-exchange between the two countries. On the other hand, the US has promising plans for Iraq. Recent American military movements in Iraq is evidence of Iraq‘s status in relation to the US. Experts indicated that the US may resort to France to put pressure on the Security Council to extend arms embargo on Iran, especially that it is among the countries that have signed on the nuclear deal. It is worth mentioning that the US had withdrawn from the nuclear deal in 2018, which implies that is illegal for the US to demand extending arms embargo.
