Jordan – “Release Prisoner… Save a Family”… The first popular initiative of its kind in the region

Activists launched an initiative entitled “Release a prisoner…save a family” in cooperation with lawyers and deputies, the aim of the initiative according to journalist Jihad Abu Bidar, who launched it is to release the largest number of prisoners who are financially distressed for the reunification of families, for its part MP Dima Tahboub, considered that the campaign plays an essential role which is achieving social solidarity to free the financially distressed prisoners and save their families who suffer because of their arrest, in this context citizen Nabil Al-Jubaa expressed his concern about the economic situation he is going through after he stumbled financially, as a lawyer and human rights activist Nour Al-Imam pointed out to Article 11 from the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which banned the imprisonment of any human simply because they are unable to meet a contractual obligation, this initiative is the first of its kind in Jordan and the region as it receives popular shield and shows the extent of social solidarity among Jordanian society.
